18 Questions With Kimesh Dajee | Meet The Senior Management Team

Meet The Team

18 Years of SOLID means 18 questions with each of the SOLID Senior Management team who, along with your support, keep the wheels of our successful business moving ahead.

Designed to be insightful and fun (what our brand is really all about) – this series is really a ‘the-people-behind-the-business’ type of thing. Please join me in getting to know our Senior Management Team a little more. 💙

Next up we have: Kimesh Dajee

No one has *quite* the same devotion to cars, or the ability to deliver side-eye like Kimesh. As one of our Development Managers, we managed to draw him away from the VW Production Line with the promise of an illustrious career in Software Development – and BOY has he delivered! Kimesh is a soft soul with so much heart that he’s freely willing to share with his SOLID teamies. Dedicated, smart and an all-round-nice guy (with a little skydiving in the background), we’re so proud to have Kimesh on the team.

His 18 questions went a little like this:

Question 1: What’s your favourite time of day?

Probably mornings, but after I’ve had breakfast and a cup of coffee. You do not want to engage me before breakfast!

Question 2: What’s the biggest learning experience you’ve had?

Learning and understanding the value of independence has probably been my biggest life experience. After studies, I was forced to relocate to Eastern Cape for my 1st job. Prior to that I had lived with my parents. This experience had not only taught me how to be independent but also led to personal growth in determining what I wanted in life. In fact, it was this experience that led me to pivot my career into Software Engineering and move to SOLIDitech to pursue my love for automation.

Question 3: What’s one vice you wish you could give up?

First thought that comes to mind is procrastination but as I think about it its more of indecisiveness. I tend to spend more time than needed on evaluating the pros and cons of a decision, perhaps overly cautious…sometimes ending up regretting the final decision

Question 4: What’s a cause that is important to you?

Animal welfare

Question 5: What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?

It would probably be that I have good taste in….cars 😉 Just kidding, I’ve been told on a few occasions that I am able to see things from a balanced and unbiased perspective which is helpful to the people around me

Question 6: When are you the most inspired?

When working towards solving a challenging problem especially if it’s something that requires out-of-the-box thinking

Question 7: Sweet or savoury?

Both but if I had to choose I’d lean toward savoury

Question 8: What song can you listen to on repeat?

Has to be a Linkin Park or ACDC song

Question 9: What are the three things you can’t live without?

1. Food, like really good food.

2. Sleep, I need my sleep, around 7.5 hours minimum.

3. Things to keep me occupied. I will loose my mind if I were bored. Currently I have a few home and car projects going.

Question 10: What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve done in your life?

Skydiving. I decided to face my fear of heights by skydiving and I loved it! I’m sure the good views of Plettenberg Bay helped though. Interestingly I still cannot stand close to the edge of a window on a 5th or higher floor building…but skydiving I’ll do any day.

Question 11: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received?

“Don’t worry what other people think” – I’ve heard this more than once, probably due to it taking some time to sink in. Once you accept that its impossible to please everyone, you regain your confidence and start to live your own life.

Question 12: What’s something you notice about someone when you first meet them?

Their body language, to gauge their demeanour and approachability

Question 13: What’s your favourite board game?

Monopoly – its the only bank I can successfully rob

Question 14: What’s one city you’ve always dreamed of traveling to?

Nürburg – to drive the Nürburgring!

Question 15: What’s the one talent you wish you had?

Cooking – I suck at it but I excel at eating…and I’m a foodie!

Question 16: What’s your favourite fast food order?

Pepperoni Pizza with chili and garlic

Question 17: Do you like surprises?

No…I can’t hide my reaction if I don’t like the surprise

Question 18: What did you want to do with your life at age 12?

At that age I loved to sketch and draw cars, often redrawing my poster pictures. I’d say I wanted to become a car designer.

And that’s a wrap!

We hope you enjoyed this ’18 Questions’, know a little more about Kimesh and are looking forward to getting to know our Senior Management Team with this series.
