18 Years of SOLID means 18 questions with each of the SOLID Senior Management team who, along with your support, keep the wheels of our successful business moving ahead.
Designed to be insightful and fun (what our brand is really all about) – this series is really a ‘the-people-behind-the-business’ type of thing. Please join me in getting to know our Senior Management Team a little more. 💙
Next up we have: Chris Hamman
AKA ‘Batman’, Chris is a kind hearted soul with a big bushy beard and a love (we mean LOVE) for coffee, cake and the SA Rugby Team. Chris is never spotted without a smile on his face and a mug in his hand. He might add a guitar or five-a-side football kit occasionally too.
Chris has been a SOLID Team member for over 15 years and whether solving complex problems or strumming a few chords, Chris radiates a genuine goodness that defines him as an all-around nice guy.
His 18 questions went a little like this:
Question 1: What’s your favourite time of day?
I love the quiet calm of early mornings just as the birds are starting to stir. It kick starts the anticipation building for an exciting day the ahead.
Question 2: What’s the biggest learning experience you’ve had?
I’m actually living it. My role at SOLID is a constant journey of learning that keeps evolving.
Question 3: What’s one vice you wish you could give up?
I consume hopelessly too much coffee!
Question 4: What’s a cause that is important to you?
Hmmm … tough one. I support various Christian mission work, social welfare and humanitarian aid organizations. It depends on where the need is when the opportunity arises.
Question 5: What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?
Earning the SOLID MVP Award in 2019. Because it was voted on by my colleagues and peers makes it very dear to my heart.
Question 6: When are you the most inspired?
When I have a fresh problem to work on.
Question 7: Sweet or savoury?
Swavoury 🙂 I can enjoy chips and cookies with equal enthusiasm.
Question 8: What song can you listen to on repeat?
Hmmm … another tough one. I have a very fluid and diverse musical appetite … I tend to have theme songs for a short period and then change. Right now any playlist I load up has to have Can’t hold us (Macklemore) or Run (OneRepublic) on it, but that could change tomorrow 🙂
Question 9: What are the three things you can’t live without?
My phone (for reading Bible, taking pictures of bugs, tuning my guitar, listening to music and alarms – I run my life on alarms), my guitar (I love to play – badly), my library (cause sci-fi and fantasy books rock)
Question 10: What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve done in your life?
Ziplining in Grabouw is the most recent thing that comes to mind
Question 11: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received?
“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift… that’s why they call it present” – Master Oogway (Kung Fu Panda)
Question 12: What’s something you notice about someone when you first meet them?
Question 13: What’s your favourite board game?
Question 14: What’s one city you’ve always dreamed of traveling to?
Thimphu in Bhutan
Question 15: What’s the one talent you wish you had?
Question 16: What’s your favourite fast food order?
Nandos chicken livers
Question 17: Do you like surprises?
Depends what the surprise is. My family dropping in for a visit … okay. A serial killing clown under my bed … not okay.
Question 18: What did you want to do with your life at age 12?
I wanted to be a programmer
And that’s a wrap!
We hope you enjoyed this ’18 Questions’, know a little more about Chris and are looking forward to getting to know our Senior Management Team with this series.
